What is MaineSpark’s Adult Promise track? Who does it serve?
A statewide group of organizations has developed a strategic plan to help adult learners* in Maine attain the degrees and credentials they need to succeed. By joining forces, we will be able to offer adults the professional development, networking and other kinds of assistance so everyone who wants to complete a credential can do so.
Adult learners are anyone who fits at least one of the following descriptions:
- over the age of 25
- attending college part-time
- working 35+ hours/week while enrolled in post-secondary education
- has dependents other than a spouse
- is financially independent from parents
- hasn’t received a standard high school diploma
- delayed enrollment in further schooling after high school for reasons other than a gap year
